Voluntary work

The Employee Foundation has partnered with the non-profit organisation Habitat for Humanity to build affordable housing for vulnerable Romanian families.

As a volunteer in this programme, you help build hopes and homes together with colleagues from the VKR Group and with volunteers from other companies – all paid for by the Employee Foundation!

The coronavirus pandemic effectively put an end to the launch, but finally in 2022 we were able to send the first team of colleagues.

A SPECIAL EXPERIENCE

The team of ten employees were from ten different companies, and six different languages were represented. The participants did not know each other beforehand and quickly found each other in the joint project.

Before the hard work began, there was time for a little sightseeing and to get an impression of Romania. Afterwards, walls were built, puttied, sanded and painted. However, there was also time to hear about the background of the families’ situation, which made a great impression on the participants and confirms that the work is of great importance.

REQUIREMENTS AND EXPECTATIONS

You must be able to understand and speak English. There are no requirements for artisanal skills or education. It is important that you want to meet new people and that you like to be part of social networks and work communities. You must be willing to roll up your sleeves and solve the tasks at hand.

You will need to spend a week of your saved holiday and it is important that your manager agrees that you are taking holiday when the programme is launched.
